Advisor Bucket Hat

72.00

The "Advisor" is a short brimmed bucket style hat. The name comes from military advisors to the RVN (Rebublic of Vietnam) during the Vietnam war. It's a style of booine hat that was popular during the1960's. These come in two different cloths.

First is the "Mitchell" oak leaf pattern camouflage print on a Japanese 100% cotton sateen. This distinct pattern came into service in the early 1950's and was used for shelter halves and helmet covers. The shelter halves were tailored into camouflage uniforms in Okinawa by resourceful marines stationed there. At this time the U.S. military had no camouflage uniforms within it's stores and had to rely on this type of improvisation or procurement of camouflage uniforms from foreign allied forces. This feature 4 aluminum vent holes, khaki chambray lining and a gold khaki HBT (herringbone twill) sweat band.

The second colour is made up in a sterile, black, plain weave, Japanese 100% cotton hopsack. It features 4 black metal vent holes, a flecked cotton chambray lining and a black HBT cotton sweatband.
